Alison Moore John has been pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Brookline since her ordination in
1999. She was baptized and raised a Roman Catholic, in Lincoln, Nebraska, but her adult life was
mostly secular until she found herself searching for spiritual truth. This search brought her to a
neighborhood Bible study on the gospel of Mark. Confronted with the truth of Jesus Christ, Alison
committed her life to following him.
Jesus's call for Alison's commitment soon became a call to the ministry, which led her to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Alison received her M.Div. magna cum laude in 1995. She worked as a pastoral associate at Newton Presbyterian Church in Newton, MA, until her call to FPCB and her ordination. Her time at FPCB has been a time of growth, both for Alison and the congregation, as she commits both her own journey and that of the congregation to God in prayer.
With interests in spiritual growth, discipleship and Biblical studies, Alison is thankful to be at FPCB, where the Holy Spirit continues to form an engaged, thoughtful, caring community called to be one body in Jesus Christ.
